Taylor Mac

“One of the most exciting theater artists of our time.”

-Time Out New York

For one night only, downtown New York’s darling Taylor Mac comes to share his very own intimate and extremely personal style of performance that has the press talking and gushing around the world.  He will share songs and stories and his own brand of magic with us at West Hall on December the 18th the closing night of the first season of Thee Wild Herring Cabaret. Happy Holidays!

Our Lady J

“Gospel for The Godless”

OUR LADY J’s “Gospel for The Godless” is a musical celebration of original music, penned by the Lady herself. Inspired by traditional Gospel music services, this show is anything but traditional: Our Lady J promises to deliver a new testament of post-religious gospel music with a rousing set that promises to deliver you from your woes, sans the usual dogmatic baggage. A self-proclaimed transexual spiritualist, Our Lady J is
revitalizing the genre one song at a time, while remaining true to what gospel music was intended to be- powerful, uplifting music for
all of humankind.

Testimonials from the congregation:

“Stunning!” - New York Magazine

“A fierce diva!”Perez Hilton

“ Virtuosic! Our Lady J is a big, brassy blond, with an abiding love of gospel… Don’t dismiss Our Lady J as a transgender novelty act! The critics’ favorite bowls the audience over with her gospel stylings and pianistic skills.”Time Out New York

“Powerful! Our Lady J knows how to rock the house. She will have you singing her praises long after the show is over.”The Village Voice

“The sultry vocals of Our Lady J are a regular presence on the New York City and London underground music scenes. From beautifully arranged covers of songs by Dolly Parton, Nine Inch Nails, and Alanis Morissette, to stellar, sometimes haunting, self-composed works, the transgender sensation is truly genre-bending.”Joseph Hassan, OUT.com

“Divine. A dazzling affair of seductive songs. Fabulous.”Next Magazine

“Our Lady J is a monster musician and a great soul.  A great huge heart with a great talent. I must confess: she knocked me out.  I adore her.” - Diamanda Galas

“Night, Sleep, Death and the Stars: an Evening with Nick Garrison”
(thank you Walt Whitman)

Darkly comic and sweetly heartbreaking, an evening with Seattle chanteur and performance artist Nick Garrison will take you on a rocking musical journey that mixes original songs, classic covers from Weimar-era cabaret tunes about plucky whores to stadium sized rock anthems about gender warriors, and horrifying, hilarious true stories to create a truly mind-bending and deeply entertaining musical extravaganza.

Check out this fun FREE event on Tuesdays at The Triple Door!

Lushy will be playing in the Musicquarium at the Triple Door starting March 30 and then every Tuesday in April as part of SIFF’s Speakeasy film series San Francisco.  NO COVER!

Remy, SIFF and the Triple Door are pleased to announce the second edition of our Speakeasy series that will run each Tuesday from 3/30 to 4/27, this time celebrating the lovely city of San Francisco.

SIFF has chosen two more outstanding films: Ray Harryhausen’s vintage Sci-Fi classic It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955) and the Bogart/Bacall noir thriller Dark Passage (1947).

This time around, local 10 piece ‘progressive cocktail pop’ outfit Lushy will provide the musical accompaniment, laying their horn & percussion driven compositions over the dynamic visuals of both films.

Our resident mixologist Brian McKay has updated the vintage cocktail list for this series with some outstanding new additions, as well as retaining the favorites from the Chicago edition.

In addition, Seattle’s purveyor of all things classy, Paula the Swedish Housewife, will be curating some additional atmospheric nods to everyone’s favorite city by the bay: Tippy Hedron in the flesh, sashaying flower girls and other delightful eye candy shall abound.

Please join us for the exclusive launch of Speakeasy SF on Tuesday 3/30. Films show at 8 and 10PM: ‘It came from beneath the sea’ at 8 and ‘Dark Passage’ at 10.

“Strange Fruit”

A dear friend’s 80-year-old mother sums it up best…. ” I never thought I would live to see Billie Holiday perform live!”

Legendary underground entertainer-turned international cabaret sensation Joey Arias returns to Seattle’s historic Triple Door theatre once again, for an evening of signature song and banter, accompanied by his longtime pianist and creative co-conspirator, Eliot Douglass. Fresh from a five-year run as emcee/”Mistress of Seduction” for Zumanity: the Sultry Side of Cirque de Soleil, a role created expressly for him, Arias is the 2009 recipient of GLAAD’s “Off Off Broadway” Award for Arias With a Twist, an intimate “cabinet of curiosities” melding Arias’ legendary voice with puppeteer Basil Twist’s lavish, ecstatic visual creations.

For one night only, Arias and Douglass will appear at the Triple Door, performing original works alongside the material of Ms. Holiday–as only Joey Arias can conjure her. A two-time “Critic’s Choice” and “Pick of the Week” (Los Angeles Times), Seattle Gay News writer Sara Michelle Fetters said this of his last Triple Door performance:  “To say he left victorious would be something of an understatement… the only thing strange about this particular fruit is just how darn brilliant he really is.” -SGN, April 9 ’08

Outrageous and avant-garde, Joey’s one-of-kind voice and thoroughly modern take on the music of Ms. Holiday continues to bend minds, winning over music and theatre lovers all across the planet. He has been featured at such diverse spaces as NYC’s hallowed Carnegie Hall and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has collaborated with countless influential artists, including David Bowie and the late Klaus Nomi.

A 90 minute epic psychedelic 70′s trip down memory lane of nonstop sex, drugs and rock & roll, this collaborative production draws from a kaleidoscopic disciplinary range of virtuoso actors, singers, musicians, and talented modern, ballet and burlesque dancers.  The incredibly accomplished cast of 22 vanguard contributors each bring unique magic to this landmark Rock-lesque extravaganza. Now in it’s 4th year!!

The First Annual “Seafarer Follies!”

The Swedish Housewife Presents the first annual Seafarer Follies! An aquatic cabaret to make Flo Ziegfeld fall off his boat. Just like in the olden days when “The Aqua Follies” rocked Greenlake, the Seafarer Follies! is the perfect Seafair antidote to loud boats, loud planes and suburban parades.

For our first commemorative year, performance artist Bradford Scobie (NYC) will be at the helm. With acts by Moisture Festival favorites: Trixie Little and The Evil Hate “Sea”-Monkey (Baltimore) and debuting Bambi The Mermaid (Coney Island), Seattle all stars Waxie Moon as King Neptune, The Shanghai Pearl, The Swedish Housewife, and introducing Thee Bearded Clam Chorus!!! Of course, a Real Live Band will be rockin’ the boat!

Come dressed to the nine fathoms in your most outrageous nautical, aquatic, flyboy, flygirl, sailor, sea captain, mermaid, merman, or “you make it up” costume to win prizes and the prestigious year long title of  The Royal Sea Urchin!

That’s right, more flotsam and jetsam than you can shake a stick at… more crustaceans than you can put in a pot! You can’t throw a catfish on this stage and not hit a mermaid! Packed full of Sardines and Sailors!!! Blue Angels, Red Devils, and not your average Chicken of the Sea!

Guaranteed to be Off The Hook!
