Dear Diary,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to a class of theater students at Antioch University about being an Independent Producer and Burlesque performer. I came in early and got to sit through two other students’ presentations one on Cirque Du Soleil, the other Teatro Zin Zanni. I found that entertaining as my dear friend Joey Arias (who I have mentioned in my blog before) is the host of “Zumanity”, and another dear friend Kevin Kent is the host at Teatro ZinZanni. I have produce shows with both of them in the past and performed on a regular basis and toured with Joey in the 80′s, so I felt right at home in that room and placed in the right progression.

It was a little curious to see my mug all over the slide show at the end right as I was being introduced. I shared about my lowbrow productions, how I became a burlesque performer, and I brought in a tear away costume and discussed props, peeling, and feminism. I made one boy blush when I pulled out a pair of pasties and twirled them in my hand, good thing I was not wearing them where I usually do!

It was a blast! I have shied away from things like that in the past, and now I am just waiting for the next invitation! It is much more fun speaking in a classroom when your not being graded and are there as a resource.

Today I picked up my surrogate platonic girlfriend from the airport and it was so exciting to see Miss Indigo Blue after a month. While I was in NYC performing she was in Great Britain presenting at the International Workshop Festival and performing. It is great to have her home and we will be sharing lots of stage time here in Seattle over the next few weeks.

Dina Martina’s Holiday show

Dear Diary,

Go See Dina Martina’s Holiday show NOW!

Because it is the best Holiday entertainment available, boy will she get your mind off of anything!

This last Friday I went to see Dina Martina’s Christmas Show with a friend of mine (who I would like to add, I find very alluring). I love bringing the uninitiated to their first “experience”, and peeking out of the corner of my eye to see how they are taking it, she is a great Litmus Test when in the process of getting to know someone a little bit better. But it is always difficult to define Dina when trying to enroll them to join you for one of her events. I mean what do you really say when describing the phenomenon we have all grown to love and follow like a cult since 1989?

This years Holiday show is painful to the stomach muscles as they tend to cramp when forced to laugh for extended periods of time. Dina is in full form in more ways than one and the show is out of the box and off the page, a peephole into that demented altered universe, of the mind-boggling world of Dina’s reality. Kind of like one of those scary but exciting LSD trips, but with out the tracers, well kind of, and ends after two hours not 18.

I always marvel at how such a mild mannered person out of character can be come so terrify when in full form, especially when looming over you with microphone in hand, as you get the up close and personal view of Dina’s maquillage techniques and slightly surreal lips, and is it her slightly manic gaze that raises sheer terror in my heart? Or is it her bizarre earnestness directed right at me? You really never know what is going to come out of her mouth next, and sitting in the aisle is not recommended for the fain of heart.

There are many fun surprises in this show and I am not letting any cats out of this bag, as you really just need to go experience it for yourself. Go to your telephone NOW dial this number in Seattle 206-448-8464 shows run from 11/25 -12/31 at Re Bar. In New York City, for two nights only – Monday 12/5 & Tuesday 12/6 at The Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street). Tickets are now available through theatermania.com and make a reservation before it is too late and all booked up!!! It would be the saddest Holiday ever because you would be out in the cold not knowing what you missed!!!

Oh, and I had a fabulous time and am ready for a brand new initiation experience.

November 21, 2005

Dear Diary,

I am bad and not the Badd, bad just the plain old common bad!

Why? Because I have not kept up with my BLOG. Bad!

I guess it is hard to keep up with these things when your not a natural writer, and writing does not come as naturally to me, as taking off my clothes in an artful manner or producing a show. So it takes lot’s of effort . I think I have abandoned the “What I did for my Summer Vacation” story line, not that it was a vacation per se, but a lot of work and I do love to work, but so much has happened since then and it gets a little boring and difficult for me to try an remember all that has happened. I have been to NYC three times and to LA twice since then. So, I am going to move on to something current.

Yesterday was Sunday and I got up and felt like I needed a break from my self imposed work, and wanted to take my mind off of “The Show Business“. So, I took myself to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. ” There was a lot on fire at this theater, and let me tell you, it was not Goblets, it was young girls hearts and burning passions for the new stud of the silver screen Harry Potter!!!. At first I was annoyed with the squealing and swooning that I found myself sitting in the midst of, well me and the older gay couple I sat next to, I couldn’t help wondering if they were members of NAMBLA? We seemed to give a collective sigh as we sat back and submitted to the next 2.5 hours witnessing first hand the beginning of this girlish phenomenon. I really never thought five books and three films later that I would hear, “Harry Potter is SOOOOOO Sexy” screamed out at a film screen, but now I can say that I have. I guess it was inevitable, children do grow up and, and, and young men start to develop pecs and boy that Ronald Weasly is kind of a sexy redheaded kid. He had one particularly hot boudoir shot, lounging in his bed half clad and modestly pulling up his sheet when Hermione entered his bedroom. I always thought it a little odd that the dorms at Hogwarts were coed. The movie is riddled with teen pheromones and pregnant with anticipation. One of my favorite geeky moments is when Harry smiles at Cho only to spit out what I assumed was pumpkin juice all over his face and clothes. It was all to familiar, being a major dork myself, I do remember being like that, heck it happened to me last week.

There is great teen angst, lust and boyish competition. Ronald’s adoration of Viktor Krum, the young hunky well developed Bulgarian Quidditch player, turning to jealousy is as entertaining as his response to the young ladies from Beauxbatons in their fetishistic, soft blue, clinging, silky suits, and very smart hats.
English School uniforms of either gender have always held a special place in my heart and these uniforms are no let down. Over all the movie is oddly sexy with it’s dank atmosphere and the aforementioned uniforms, makes me want to go back to school…I can’t wait till the next movie comes out. I hope it will be rated R!!!! I mean they will be 16 or 18 by then, right?!?

Oh Lord!!! is there a NAWBLA…. Actually I adhere to the half your age plus seven rule in reality.
